Access Statement For Bishopgarth Guest House
Introduction.
A warm welcome to Bishopgarth Guest House. Quietly situated yet just minutes from the hussle and bussle of the historic city of York. Within walking distance of York Races. We have four rooms, all with central heating, TV and tea/coffee making facilities along with other items you may find useful during your visit. All internal areas are strictly No Smoking.
Pre-Arrival.
We accept booking either on line or over the telephone. To secure your booking we normally require the first nights stay as deposit, however for long bookings we may charge a larger deposit. Confirmation of your arrival time is requested to assist us in making your arrival as easy as possible. Arrivals outside our normal check in times need to be pre arranged. Booking confirmations by email or letter can be sent if requested. Our web site gives both written directions and a map to the guesthouse via road and public transport.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities.
Our check-in times are 10:00-12:30 or 17:00-20:00 daily. (We advise that rooms may not always be cleaned and available before 12 noon) We are available between these times to assist with luggage which can be left in our safe keeping. On street parking permits are available (one per room) to park within sight of the guesthouse. There is a nominal charge of £2 per night for the permit. There are three steps up to the door which means we are not able to offer suitable access for those guests who are confined to a wheelchair.
Main Entrance & Reception.
Please ring the bell at the side of the front door when you arrive. There are three steps up into the house with a mat on the floor then through a second door into the hall/reception area. The reception area is tiled. There are 15 (66”, 26cm wide) carpeted steps up to a landing followed a further 2 steps and hallway to bedrooms 2 and 3. From the landing there are a further 13 steps followed by 3 steps to and hallway to bedrooms 4 and 5. There is no lift of chair lift available.
Dining Room.
Breakfast is served in the ground floor dining room between 7:45am and 8:30am.
Bedrooms.
All bedrooms lockable and have;
En-suite shower rooms, complementary toiletries, tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits, TV with remote control, hairdryers, fitted short pile carpets, synthetic pillows and duvets, (additional blankets are available) welcome folder and information booklet, thermostatically controllable central heating, wireless internet available.
En-suite shower rooms.
All have; A toilet, sink and shower tray. Rooms 3 and 5 have Saniflow (small waist pipe) pumped toilets, these toilets only accept the ordinary toilet roll provided, all other materials (make up wipes etc) must be put in the bins provided. There is a £75 engineer call out charge if anything else is put down the toilet.
Laundry.
Not available.
Grounds and garden area.
We have a small paved area at the front facing south with a wooden bench.
Future Plans.
We have a constant program of refurbishment and upgrading of all rooms.
